Maxi is a young male dog ( less than a year ) that started off with the odds against him! He was born with an elongated upper maxial pallate and his right nostril physically obstructed. He is only able to breath through his left nostril, which is very difficult and uncomfortable for him, especially when he sleeps.
Our vets have recommended that Maxi receive Rhinoplasty surgery and Maxillar Soft Palate Resection in order to dramatically improve the airway obstruction he presently has.
We rescued Maxi after we spotted him walking back and forth across a very busy main street in Playa del Carmen.
He seemed very lost and was most likely dropped off by an Owner who did not want to be responsible for his respiratory problem. This condition was explained to us by the vets we saw within the first 10 days of taking care of Maxi and conducting blood tests. Other than the respiratory issue which requires surgery, Maxi also has Ehrlichiosis, which we are presently treating. Eventually Maxi will need to be neutered.
Now that his physical issues have been covered, let’s talk about how this is the most playful, curious, intelligent and loving young puppy we have encountered in a long time! He eats very well, yearns to sleep in our bed with us and is always seeking our affections. He would make a brilliant addition to a family looking for their first dog and with proper training he will listen to every command! He is already house trained and loves to play with his chewy toys.
In order to get Maxi at his best, we need to get this surgery done right away! Unfortunately, it is not cheap!
The costs will run between $1200 USD and $1500 USD. For this reason we are starting a fundraiser to help us obtain the $1500 USD Total.
We have already invested funds to cover the initial Vet check-ups, blood tests and treatment for his Ehrlichiosis.
The $1500 USD raised will cover his surgery, recovery and eventual sterilization.
Please give Maxi a chance to breathe freely and enjoy the life he deserves.
