Oso is one of those dogs who doesn’t give his heart away immediately… but once he decides to trust you, you discover an incredibly sweet and sensitive soul.

He was rescued by Estrella, an independent rescuer in Playa del Carmen, and K9 Lifesavers Mexico is now helping her find what every rescued dog deserves: a forever family.

Of the four dogs rescued by Estrella that we are helping, Oso is the most trusting, although he still likes to take a little time to observe you and make sure he feels safe. He isn’t necessarily the dog who will immediately run into your arms. First, he wants to know that he can trust you.

And the secret to winning his heart? Treats. 🦴❤️

With a little patience, a gentle voice, and a few tasty rewards, that initial distance quickly begins to disappear. Within just a few minutes, Oso starts coming closer, relaxing, and showing you who he really is: a gentle, sensitive dog who is ready to form a very special bond with his person.

Oso doesn’t need someone to rush him. He needs someone who understands that trust is also a form of love and who will give him the opportunity to discover, at his own pace, that he is finally safe.

And once that happens, we believe the person who earns Oso’s trust will receive something truly special in return:
